First Aid in the ever-changing world
Welcome to this year's conference page. Our 2024 conference focuses on our ever-changing world. As an industry, we are again at the centre of another tertiary education review. The current standard-setting body will provide updates on how that will affect them, providers and learners. We are also excited to platform guests from the Heart Foundation, Epilepsy New Zealand, the Stroke Foundation, Remarkable Minds and a Rural Hospital Medicine Specialist from the Bay of Islands Hospital to find out how these organisations are adapting to the many changes that have taken place in the past few years along with any new changes in practice.
We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible on the day.
CPR Revalidation
We are delighted to announce once more, the evening before conference our tutor CPR Revalidation update. This event will kindly be undertaken by St John and all costs donated to AECTP.

Dr Hugh McKenzie
Rural Hospital Medicine Specialist
I am a Rural Hospital Medicine specialist working in the Bay of Islands hospital in the Mid North. My main roll is working out of the emergency department. I am fortunate in the fact that we assess and treat a large variety of patients and pathologies every day, which makes my work both interesting and rewarding. Our patients are often the most vulnerable, being of low socioeconomic demographic and having poor access to healthcare. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my young family, surfing and freediving. Northland is a fantastic place for this.
